Minutes:

Minutes
AID Group Meeting May 16th 2004
Held at: Interaccess
Meeting commenced at 1:30pm

Present: Ben, Mike, Stefan, Mel

What we accomplished:

* Stefan spend the time working on the AID firmware:
Merged features from aid030907.zip, added aid_cmd.c (was aid_lang.c in
   aid030907.zip).

	Features in this revision:
	  - new header pins and pin tristates
	  - a/d command with address
	  - eol command
	  - ack ("OK") or err ("ERR") response to every line of input
	  - $Revision$ cvs directive in greeting string

Firmware source consists of 3 files now:
	    1) main.c (main loop)
	    2) aid_cmd.c (command processing)
	    3) aid_lib.c (low level hardware access functions)

* The standard resolution for AID schematics is 1020x770 pixels.
The standard file type for schematics is jpg not BMP.
The standard file type for pcbs is pdf.
   - To resolve these issues we should have a script on the server
that converts the EPS and BMP files to appropriately sized JPG
and PDF files. (Using imagemagick and gs?)

* John and Ben added component IDs to the main board PCB design that will
sync up with the parts list and construction notes.

* Mike built the new main board and input PCBs. The initial testing
   shows they are functional!

* Tim continued migrating the drupal site to to the new AID server. He
installed myphp admin and created a drupaltemp database as the first stage.
He then exported the old database files from the drupal site. This week he
populated the drupaltemp database and reconfigured drupal to point to
   drupaltemp.

* Ben testes the polaroid sensor and had some issues reading values. The
values jump from a maximum to a minimum when the numbers are high, but
stays stable when there is now movement or if the object is very close to
the range-finder. Rob thinks it could be that two bits on the bus got
   swapped.

* Mike will be testing the bend-sensor software in director this week.

* After some more testing Mel thinks his concerns about the address pins
not being pulled down sufficiently is not a real concern.

In two weeks we will:

* Develop Launch Demos!
* Develop Worked-Solutions!
* Continue work on the Getting Started Guide, including more links
* Continue the development of the AID utility software

Adjournment: 6:00

Next Meeting: May 23th, 1:30 at Interaccess Suite 444, 401 Richmond
Street.
