Call for Submissions - Drone Art
InterAccess is currently developing a group exhibition for Winter 2016 on the topic of drones. Drones, or unmanned aerial vehicles, represent a fundamental shift in surveillance and warfare from that of counterinsurgency to antiterrorism, where military strategy is less about conquering territory than defeating an enemy from afar. Though warfare has been the primary benefactor of drone and surveillance technologies, drones also present valuable opportunities for creative and critical investigation. To this end, InterAccess seeks artworks of any medium that engage with the cultural space and/or aesthetics of drones. This may include using drones to produce works, using drones as a medium, or using drones as a conceptual catalyst.
Works must be exhibition ready by December 1, 2015. A committee made up of InterAccess staff, board members, and a community representative will jury submissions. Selected artists will be notified by mid-October. InterAccess pays artists fees in accordance with CARFAC’s fee schedule.
