We're hiring an Archive Coordinator
Funded by IMAA's Digital Skills for Youth program, the Archive Coordinator is a part-time contract position between October 2024 and March 2025. The Coordinator will be engaged in the planning, organizing, and implementation of InterAccess's archive. This will include building an archival framework and workflow and collaborating with technicians to create an open source server to host the archive.
Pay Rate: $26.50 per hour at 21 hours per week
Start Date: Monday, October 7, 2024
End Date: Friday, March 28, 2025

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to InterAccess’s Programming Manager and Executive Director, the Archive Coordinator's work will include:
- Collaborating with InterAccess staff and consultants on building an archival framework;
- Cataloging, organizing, and digitizing InterAccess’s comprehensive archive containing artwork, organizational documents, photographs, and program ephemera;
- Working with mentor technicians to develop locally networked server for the archive database.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in building a local server with support from professional technicians
- Develop a cataloguing system with support from professional librarian/archivist
- Develop archival best practices for:
- Materials handling, organizing, and storage
- Digitization of various types of materials (paper, video, floppy disks etc.)
- Create and test a workflow for digitizing and cataloguing archival materials
- Catalogue selection of materials from InterAccess archive
REQUIREMENTS
This position is funded by IMAA’s Digital Skills for Youth program. To meet this program’s requirements, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of the internship
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, refugee status)
- Self-identify as under-employed (ie: employed below their level of education, holds part-time employment or in emerging field with new job)
- Have completed post-secondary studies
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong interest or experience in archival work, data entry, cataloguing
- Experience or strong interest in physical computing and/or open-source practices
- Excellent attention to detail and data entry
- Ability to work independently and motivated to take initiative
- Ability to work collaboratively on systems building and problem-solving
ASSETS
- Degree or work experience in the Archiving and/or Library Services fields
- Strong interest in Canadian media art and/or artist-run centre history
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexible work schedule with a combination of remote and on-site hours
- This position requires 21 hours per week between Monday and Friday or Tuesday and Saturday
