forest of juxtaposition: radical disconnectedness in Kinopio
In-person at InterAccess - Register here
Further shaking loose the bonds of modern game design, participants will reflect on their existing practices and the design/technological structures of their current projects -- first by creating Kinopio cards and connecting them in different ways, but then in a game-making tool such as Twine, Bitsy, or game engines of choice.
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have generated and organized discrete creative fragments into a larger structure that delivers a larger "feeling" than an individual fragment could alone, with minimal connective tissue.
Whether a participant uses their own environment or a provided tool, the intention is that we come away from this with a new understanding of how to think about game structure and restructuring, having practiced it with the themes of deu(s ex) machina.
This workshop is presented as part of the Vector Festival 2024 Game Jam: deu(s ex) machina. Registration for this workshop is also open to the general public; participants will learn alongside the selected gamemakers.
