InterAccess is piloting some changes to our Membership pricing model, beginning with the introduction of tiered pricing to better support our community’s needs.

Tiered pricing is designed to provide Members with the flexibility to pay fees appropriate to their income.

Standard Rate: The Standard Rate covers all the basic costs of membership (studio rent, utilities, equipment maintenance, technician fees, and studio consumables). 

• Annual Studio Membership: $400/year ($33.33/month) 
• Monthly Studio Membership: $60/month

Supported Rate: The Supported Rate is for those experiencing financial barriers. This rate covers a portion of the cost of studio rent and utilities. 

• Annual Studio Membership: $300/year ($25/month) 
• Monthly Studio Membership: $50/month

Sustaining Rate: This rate covers all the basic costs of membership (studio rent, utilities, equipment maintenance, technician fees, and studio consumables), and helps to offset those members who are accessing our Supported Rate. It also helps support our free studio community events, including Open Studio. Annual Studio Members paying a Sustaining Rate are eligible for a charitable tax receipt of $100.

• Annual Studio Membership: $500/year ($41.66/month) 
• Monthly Studio Membership: $70/month

We ask anyone making a living wage or above (currently $25.05/hour, or $45,591/year in Toronto, per the Ontario Living Wage Network) to pay our Standard Rate. For those who are not currently earning a living wage, you can take advantage of the new Supported Rate. If you are able to contribute more to support InterAccess’s studio community, please consider paying the Sustaining Rate.

Overview of Monthly and Annual Studio Memberships

Monthly Memberships are intended for those working on short-term projects who are looking to access the studio and equipment for a limited time. With this membership, you receive:

• Inclusion within a supportive community of new media artists
• 24/7 access to shared studio with WiFi
• Access to specialized equipment
• Access to community Discord channel
• Invitations to member community and programming events
• Access to equipment training (subject to additional fees)
• Access to on-site storage locker (for an additional fee)

Annual Studio Memberships encourage members to make full use of InterAccess’s studio space, equipment, and facilities, and to become part of an exciting community of artists, makers, and designers. With this membership, you receive all of the above benefits, as well as:

• Discounted rates for workshops
• Discounted rates for equipment rentals
• Free equipment training
• Free small locker (subject to availability; upgrade to large locker for an additional fee)
• Membership in the IMAA Network
• Voting Rights at Annual AGM (pending board approval)

Voting Membership

Want to support new media art and help make InterAccess programming possible? A Voting Membership is for those who want to be involved with the development of InterAccess but do not intend to make use of our production studio. Responsibilities and benefits include:

• Invitation, participation, and voting rights at InterAccess Annual General Meetings and Special Members' Meetings - includes approving the annual audit and financial statements, electing the Board of Directors and Executive positions, and electing the auditor.
• Invitations to member community and programming events.
• Access to community Discord Channel that includes external programming, promotion, and job opportunities circulated among members.
• Paid and unpaid consultation opportunities to contribute feedback on InterAccess's programs - studio, exhibition, education, community.
• An invested stake in the health of our treasured new media arts organization.

This membership does not include access to the production studio.

Applications are reviewed by InterAccess's Voting Membership Committee ahead of regularly scheduled monthly Board Meetings.

After the InterAccess Board of Directors has approved your application you will be contacted by InterAccess staff with next steps for paying the required annual fee ($50/year) to become a Voting Member. Annual Studio Members in good standing will have their fee waived.

We understand our membership program may still be financially inaccessible for many. We want to take this time to remind our community that on Wednesday nights, InterAccess hosts Open Studio, a free drop-in event open to the public held in our studio space.

We offer sessions that include casual co-working, meetups, and themed activities as well as occasional events and exhibition openings. You can find out more about upcoming Open Studio sessions on our Studio page.
