Sensors Workshop
Workshop Description:
In this workshop, we'll learn how sensors and work, examine different kinds of information they output, and make some simple Arduino-based applications that use that sensor data.
We'll work hands-on with proximity sensors (both infrared and ultrasonic), temperature sensors, pressure sensors, gyros sensors, and accelerometers. We'll examine their characteristics on an oscilloscope and use Arduino microcontrollers to read them. We'll learn between different types of sensor output: digital, analog, and data outputs.
Furthermore, students will learn how to read often-confusing datasheets, helping them to pick the correct sensor for their future appliaction, and recognize characteristics of the sensors themselves.
Do I need any prior experience?
Nope! This workshop will be accessible even to beginners.
What do I need to bring?
Bring a laptop with the Arduino IDE 1.0.5 downloaded and installed. You can find the download link and installation instructions here: http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software
What materials will you get to take home from this workshop?
