FULL! Intro to Raspberry Pi Workshop Series (3 Classes)

NOTE: Sorry, registration is full!

What is this Raspberry Pi I keep hearing about?

The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer. It’s remarkably powerful and versatile, and is probably going to become an essential gadget for new media artists and makers. What’s the catch? It runs on Linux! So we’ll learn how to use the embedded Linux operating system on the Raspberry Pi board to open up a whole world of project possibilities.

What will we learn?

We'll break the ice and introduce you to Raspberry Pi, learning the hardware and software through a result-oriented approach.

During three sessions, instructor Amir Far will use rapid application development techniques to help you get started with the board and develop at least one application on your own.

At the end of this workshop you should have basic understanding of programming languages. You will be able to operate the board through a terminal from your Mac, PC or Linux laptop. You should be able to apply your knowledge to similar boards such as BeagleBoard,... Students will be provided reference materials in digital format before and during the workshop.

Why three sessions?

NOTE: There are three separate sessions to this workshop! They are on:

Thursday, January 31

Thursday, February 7

Thursday, February 21

In the first session, we'll go through the basics of the Raspberry Pi. In the next two sessions, we'll be working on specific projects that reveal different commands and functionalities of the technology. These projects will be determined closer to the date of the workshop (the possibilities are increasing really fast!) and are open to student input! You have the option of signing up for the workshops individually, or as a three-pack!
