Processing for iPhone
Take your skills in Processing and use them to add interactive elements to websites or build mobile and iPhone apps.
What tools will we be learning/using?
Mainly Processing.js and some HTML, CSS and jQuery/Javascript.
Oh. What the heck is that?
Processing.js is the javascript version of Processing. It looks and works like regular processing except it is built to be used on the web. Therefore, you can use it to create interactive elements for a website, mobile apps, visualizations, etc. A lot of the things for which you needed to use Flash in the past can be done using processing.js
What level of experience should students have coming in?
Experience in Processing and basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
What software should I have pre-installed?
Processing: http://processing.org/download/
Processing.js: http://processingjs.org/download/ (only need to download; it doesn't need to be installed)
Some sort of a text editor. TextWrangler: http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/index.html (free option) or Sublime Text2: http://www.sublimetext.com/2 (available for a free unrestricted trial, but needs a license long term. Works great with processing)
Is it OK to have a PC?
Yes
After we've taken this workshop, what will we be able to do with it (or be on our way to being able to do)?
Add interactive elements to websites, build an HTML5 mobile/iPhone apps, games, etc.
Can you show me a link to some stuff that uses this technology/skill/language?
