100(11) Instruction Works
100(11) Instruction Works is a series of daily performances taking place during the 2004 7a*11d International Performance Art Festival. The instructive projects create an opportunity to explore the many architectures of Toronto – physical, virtual and mental. A wireless camera will be in use during performances to experiment with the notion of interfacing urban space with a performance piece, and in turn, with a global population. 100(11) Instruction Works is multidisciplinary artist kanarinka's continuing exploration of invisible things – spaces, frameworks and contexts. It questions rules and perception while introducing the invisible to the public as a site for the transformation of ideas.
100(11) Instruction Works brings Boston-based artist kanarinka with fellow iKatun collective members David Raymond, pirun, Jim Bailey, Natalie Loveless and Yoritaka Sakakura to Toronto for eleven days of performance and instruction gathering. The performance series will take place in and around public spaces in Toronto, determined by the instruction itself or the artists. One work per day will be chosen from the 100(11) Instruction Works database of submitted instructions for eleven days. The performance is videotaped and will be projected in the InterAccess gallery space and presented online from the InterAccess website.
iKatun is a non-profit collective of artists and technologists founded in 2001 by kanarinka and pirun. In south Slavic languages, katun means "a temporary village." Each iKatun project functions in this way – as a temporary community of people, technologies and sites around a particular conceptual focus. iKatun creates performances, net.art, software and interactive installations, sometimes all at the same time.
100(11) Instruction Works is presented as a part of the 2004 7a*11d Performance Art Festival.
