Intro to Processing

Processing is an open source Java-based programming language designed to introduce beginners to computer programming in a visual context. In this interactive workshop, we will cover the basics of the Processing environment, and work towards building a first interactive animation.

No prior programming experience necessary. Participants will leave this session with a good grasp of the fundamentals of computer programming and the skills to continue to develop their own projects in the future.

About the Instructor: Tess Sutherland is a graduate of the Ryerson New Media program. She has worked on a variety of interactive installations, including Micah Scott's Forest (commissioned for TIFF Kids digiPlayspace), and BitMorph, a location-based game commissioned by the Ontario Science Centre. Her most recent work includes a Processing-driven interactive installation centering on the modern relationship with surveillance technologies. Check out her work here.
