Artist Talk & Demo: 'The Play City' by SPATIAL-ESK
Wednesday, June 8 | 6—9pm (EST)
In-person at InterAccess and Online via YouTube Live
Come and enter 'The Play City'. A virtual world created by studio SPATIAL-ESK. The space seeks to re-imagine the city of Toronto as a place that invites play at every corner. The playful proposal seeks to overlay a model of the city with re-scaled and emphasized symbols of play, curiosity and delight. The bold colours that contrast the monochrome city act as a symbol to represent the need for fresh visual activity amongst the rigid and repeated developments of the skyscraper city. As a BIPOC owned art and design studio, SPATIAL-ESK seeks to use the artistic role as an opportunity to test provocative visions and ideas that spark conversation and thought in the realm of urban culture. As part of the proposal, SPATIAL-ESK overlays poetry and animations that explore themes of SWING, CLIMB and SLIDE.
