Electronics Fabrication

Getting your project working in the lab is only the first step! We’ll show you how to build it to survive and to look good while doing it. Topics include:

How to solder.
How to choose appropriate wire and cable for your project, and techniques for wiring, including splicing and cable management.
How to use materials such as heat-shrink tubing to make your project safer and more reliable.
How to work with printed circuit boards-installing AND removing components, and how to mount the board itself.
How to deal with incorporating Arduino boards into a permanent project.
How to build enclosures, and neatly and safely mount components such as potentiometers and switches.

Special attention will be given to audio cable and connectors- you’ll learn the difference between speaker cable and microphone cable, and how to install your own connectors.
