Mobile Apps in Modern JavaScript

In this workshop, we will introduce you to jQuery and BackboneJS, then build a slick and
beautiful portfolio application that lives comfortably in both browser and mobile. These
tools help us unlock the awesome power of Javascript to help us make web sites and
mobile apps that are fluid, functional, and naturally gorgeous.
There are no excuses anymore, let's make the internet beautiful.

What you need:

A notebook, a computer, a text editor (I recommend Sublime for mac people!) If you can't bring a computer, no problem. Just let us know ahead of time and we'll try to set you up with a loaner.

What you should know ahead of time:

A bit of HTML, a touch of CSS, and if possible, some basics of programming and Javascript. If you're afraid of Javascript, come anyway! I'll provide all the code examples at the end of the class and a list of resources for learning more.
As always, if you're not sure whether or not you've got the prerequisite knowledge, send an e-mail to Mitch at workshops@interaccess.org and he'll straighten you out.

What you'll learn by the end of the workshop:

You'll have the basic knowledge to start building modern websites and web applications, and steps to go to learn more! You can see more examples of BackboneJS sites here: https://github.com/documentcloud/backbone/wiki/Projects-and-Companies-using-Backbone
