Call for Workshop Proposals
InterAccess is currently accepting workshop proposals from new media artists, creative technologists, educators, and artist-facilitators for two program streams: our new Sustainable Practices series, and our ongoing Education Workshops.
Sustainable Practices
Deadline: February 23, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET
→ Submission Form
Sustainable Practices is a special programming series dedicated to highlighting and sharing hands-on skills related to environmentally sustainable practices in new media.
New media practices can have a significant environmental impact due to the technologies used, creating high volumes of e-waste, plastics use, energy processing, and more. As artists become increasingly concerned about their ecological impact, many are developing their own alternative approaches. Through this series, InterAccess aims to support these vital practices and create a forum for skill-building and knowledge sharing.
This series of free public sessions will be hosted at the InterAccess studio during our Open Studio nights, which take place Wednesday evenings from 6-9PM throughout 2025.
Call for Proposals
InterAccess is seeking artist-facilitators interested in leading a session on a sustainable new media practice. Sessions will run 2-3 hours and should include a hands-on component focused on tangible skill-building or techniques, suitable for a group of 15-30 participants.
Topics of interest include hacking & re-purposing electronics; biofabrication; open-source computing; harnessing renewable energy; alternative filaments for 3D printing; and more. Experimental processes are encouraged.
Each session will be allocated a materials budget of $125. Refreshments will be provided by InterAccess.
Facilitators will be paid an artist fee of $520. This fee is inclusive of session prep, administrative labour, and facilitation.
Submission Process
- Submit your proposal via Google Form by the deadline (February 23, 2025, 11:59pm ET).
- InterAccess staff will review all applications.
- Selected facilitators will be confirmed and contacted by the end of March 2025.
Due to the hands-on nature of these practices, in-person sessions will be prioritized. Online proposals will also be considered.
We strongly encourage applications from equity-deserving communities, including artists who are Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, LGBTQ-identified, Gender Diverse, Two-Spirit, and Persons with Disabilities.
